Artemis Center: Celebrating Community, Partnership and 40 Years of Support

In HealthPath's 2024 Community Connections grant cycle, Artemis Center was awarded $8,000 in general operating support to offset expenses and impact the Health Access Mobile Advocacy Project services Artemis provides to domestic violence (DV) survivors in Montgomery County, Ohio. This year, HealthPath staff visited the center to learn more about the organization's successes with programming and partnerships, and how they plan to celebrate their 40-year anniversary this fall.

"This year marks a powerful milestone for Artemis Center: 40 years of standing beside survivors of domestic violence and working toward a safer, more compassionate community. As we reflect on four decades of service, we are filled with gratitude for the thousands of lives touched and the community that has walked with us every step of the way." - Jane Keiffer, Executive Director

The Artemis Center's mission is to work with the community to empower survivors to heal and live free of domestic violence. Their Health Access Mobile Advocacy Project uses a public health approach to increase access to healthcare services, education, and information to DV survivors and survivors of intimate partner sexual assault. Through this project, the Artemis CARE Mobile Advocate provides holistic case management in the community and focuses on intentionally addressing, accommodating, and prioritizing the health of survivors by acknowledging the social determinants of health on survivors' overall well-being.

Since their founding in June 1985, Artemis Center has served more than 140,000 survivors and their families, offering support, safety planning, and resources. Their 24/7 hotline has answered over 240,000 calls, and while providing court accompaniment on 45,000 occasions, they have helped survivors navigate the legal system with support and information. In addition to these services, they also provide items from their pantries, ensuring that families have the tangible support they need.
