Appalachian Ohio Oral Health Workforce Initiative
Part of HealthPath’s investment in oral health includes collaboration with other funders and acquiring state and national funding to expand our work in oral health here in Ohio.
HealthPath, the Appalachian Regional Commission (a United States federal-regional partnership) and Buckeye Hills Regional Council co-funded the Appalachian Ohio Oral Health Workforce Initiative in Ohio in 2017.
The goal of the Initiative is to increase the education, knowledge, skills and health of residents to work and succeed in Appalachia. Funding supports a dental rotation program with The Ohio State University College of Dentistry and a residency program with NYU Langone Dental. Both the rotation and residency encourage careers in rural dental practice in the Appalachian counties in Ohio.
